UNY STUDENTS ASSIST MSMES IN BANJAROYO VILLAGE

The Village Entrepreneurship Program (Wira Desa) of the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology is an entrepreneurship program. The Wira Desa program is designed, implemented, monitored, and evaluated by students through the Student Activity Unit (UKM) and the Student Executive Institute and is a substantial effort to implement the Independent Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM). The UKM IKMK UNY team assisted SMEs in Banjaroyo Village, Kalibawang, Kulon Progo.

According to Yohanes Wijaya Setya Arsandi, Banjaroyo Village is known as a village that has economic potential in various sectors such as cocoa farming, handicrafts, culinary tourism, durian farming, Javanese sugar products, as well as natural attractions and spiritual tourism at the Maria Sendangsono Cave., which is located on the slopes of the Menoreh Hills,

The existence of MSMEs strongly supports the economic development of Banjaroyo Village, which contributes to the village's original income. However, it is found that MSMEs have not been managed optimally and are still experiencing difficulties in marketing, finance, production, and management. This is due to the lack of information obtained by MSME actors about the times.

Heinricus Gama Taofany said that they helped manage MSMEs in Banjaroyo village in woodworking and cocoa farming. "This woodcraft MSMEs is located in the Maria SendangSono Cave, owned by Bowo Susanto. It produces tools for Catholic worship such as wooden rosaries, crosses, and candles," said Taofany. The UNY IKMK Wiradesa Team helps this woodcraft MSME by holding training, mentoring, and socialization.

Meanwhile, the assistance for cocoa farmers was carried out at the Ngudi Rejeki Farmers Group chaired by Johan Salbiyantoro and the Ngudi Lestari Farmers Group chaired by Sarjino. The Cocoa Farmers Group is a collection of approximately 227 farmers. Laras Haningyuni Antini said that the available land in the Slanden hamlet was used organically without using pesticides and artificial fertilizers. This condition makes Banjaroyo Village's cocoa products superior in the eyes of foreign consumers. The same as what was done in woodcraft SMEs.

This program implementation aimed to help MSMEs increase their business results in quantity and quality, change marketing strategies, increase market reach, increase production management efficiency and effectiveness, and increase income and profits. This activity is one of UNY's efforts in the sustainable development agenda in quality education, reducing hunger, and partnerships to achieve goals. (Dedy, ts-Shafia, Alina)
