UNY Indonesian Education Museum Is Not Just Recreative But Also Educational

Museum? What is the first thing in your head when you hear the word museum? When was the last time you visited a museum? Unfortunately, you don't have to go far. The good news is that Kota Gudeg has a museum that can be used as a tourist destination that is cheap and luxurious. Museum Indonesian Education(MPI) UNY is located on Jln. Colombo No. 1, Karangmalang Yogyakarta, is an educational museum that was first established in Indonesia. Sultan Hamengku Buwono X inaugurated this museum on July 8, 2008. The initiator of the establishment of this museum is Prof. Dr. Sugeng Mardiono, Ph.D. This idea was motivated by his anxiety regarding the little-known history of Indonesian education. Therefore, MPI UNY was established to provide an understanding of the history of education in Indonesia and participate in improving the quality of education development in Indonesia through various collections and agendas held.

This museum has several rooms, namely Gallery Room 1, Gallery Room 2, Gallery Room 3, complete with its collections and Cinema Room. Gallery Room 1 is a collection of school equipment. Gallery Room 2 is a small collection of educational figures, and Gallery Room 3 is a collection of learning media. The three rooms are located on the 1st floor while the Cinema Room is on the second floor. Some of the presented agendas are the Little Dalang Festival, Education Festival, Museum Festival, etc. The entrance fee to this museum is only 2,500rp, and you will get a 10% discount if you bring a group of at least 20 people. Visits at this museum can be served from 07.30 to 15.00 WIB from Monday to Thursday. Friday service at 07.30-14.00 WIB. While unique visits are for Saturdays and Sundays, prospective visitors must make a reservation in advance via telephone or email.
