UNY HAVE A SHUTTLE BUS

UNY campus was spread across four locations, namely Karangmalang Campus, UPP 1 St. Walnuts, UPP 2 St. Bantul and Wates Campus need a means of connecting to make it easier for the academic community to carry out their daily activities. Therefore, since February 1, 2015, UNY has provided free shuttle buses for UNY lecturers, employees, and students connecting the four campuses.

Four buses take the PP Karangmalang – Wates PP route and Karangmalang – UPP 1 – UPP 2 routes every day. With the availability of this shuttle bus, it is hoped to make it easier for lecturers, employees, and students who will be doing their activities. Vice-Chancellor II of UNY, Dr. Moch Alip, explained that the shuttle bus is a means for the smooth transportation of lecturers, employees, and students from one place to another. "We need suggestions and input so that in the future, this facility will be better and can help the UNY academic community," said Dr. Moh Alip. The UNY shuttle bus departs in 4 trips at 06.00, 10.00, 14.00, and 16.00 from Karangmalang, UPP 2, and Wates Campus. Linda Setyowati, a student at UNY Wates Campus, said that the existence of this shuttle bus really helps students in their activities.

This D3 ADP Study Program student of the Faculty of Economics recounted that using a public bus from Wates Campus to Karangmalang takes a long time because no public bus goes directly to Karangmalang, but has to get off at the Giwangan terminal and change buses to Karangmalang. "In addition, if we use a motorbike, we need Rp. 15,000.00 to buy gasoline," said Linda. "With this bus, we can save money, and the money can be used for daily meals." One of the UNY shuttle bus drivers serving the Karangmalang – Wates Campus route, Sahono, said that it would take one hour to cover the distance unless there was a traffic jam. "Usually, traffic jams occur in the Wirobrajan and Tompeyan areas, especially in the morning and evening," concluded by Sahono.
