Srawung Psikologi

Psychology Students Association organized the scientific discussion "Srawung Psychology, Sex Education and Sexual Violence: Exploring the Behavioral Motives of Sexual Violence" on (25/04/2019) at the FIP Auditorium, Abdullah Sigit Hall. This event takes place from 17.00-19.00 WIB. Sexual violence is now even spreading in areas where unexpected immoral acts happened. Therefore, Riyanto invites us to reflect on the causes of sexual violence that occurs in society in the scientific discussion "Srawung Psychology, Sex Education and Sexual Violence: Exploring the Motives of Sexual Violence Behavior."

Riyanto, the first speaker in this discussion, stated that the primary motive behind sexual violence is the unequal power relations between men and women. When a person feels superior to others, in this case, the object of sexual violence, harassment is more likely to occur. "Therefore, currently there is widespread news about cases of rape of lecturers to students, teachers to students, superiors to subordinates, to husbands to their wives," said Riyanto.

Gender inequality which is fertile in society is the primary cause of sexual violence. Riyanto, the speaker from the Rifka Anisa NGO, even regretted the sexual violence in education. He gave concrete examples of Agni's rape in UGM to a Koran teacher who molested his students in Bantul. "Though these places are considered the safest and most conducive places to develop and study," added Riyanto.

Mukhlis, the second speaker in this discussion, discussed sex education that the younger generation should know. When talking about sex reproductive organs, Mukhlis, a speaker from the Indonesian Family Planning Association (PKBI), offers a unique point of view. "The most vital sex organ in humans is the brain, the mind itself," said Mukhlis.

Therefore, the best way to avoid sexual violence is to supply the mindset with sound knowledge about sex, understand credible information about sexual services and institutions, and manage their sexual urges wisely. (M. Abdul Hadi/JK, ts-Alina)
