FIP UNY Breakthrough in the Pilot Area Development Program of Giripurwo Village Purwosari Gunungkidul

One of the tridharma of higher education is community service. Community service is meant to provide assistance, training to the community based on science and technology developed in universities to improve the capabilities and resources available in the community. Community service is the implementation of the university’s responsibility to the community.

As a form of university responsibility in the context of community service, FIP UNY made a breakthrough in the Development Program for the Assisted Village Area in Giripurwo Village, Purwosari, Gunungkidul, which will be planned for a full month starting on October 1, 2021.

Deputy Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni FIP UNY, as the Event Coordinator, Dr. Joko Pamungkas, M.Pd., said in his report that this activity was held in order to provide assistance to the community to improve human resources in Giripurwo Village, Purwosari, Gunungkidul. “The planned programs are Training on Prevention of Early Marriage, the Impact of Pornography and Social Media, Training on Prevention of Violence against Women and Children and Maintaining Household Harmony for PKK Giwipurwo Management, October 1, 2021, Leadership Training for Youth Organizations, Character Training in Organizations, Optimizing Roles Youth in Village Development, with the target of Karangtaruna Desa, October 2, 2021. Meanwhile, the Head of Giripurwo Village, Supriyadi, expressed his gratitude for the cooperation in improving the human resources in Giripurwo, particularly related to the 4 UNY FIP mentoring programs. Supri also said that Giripurwo has become a cultural village, therefore it is necessary to increase human resources and organization. “We hope that this activity will not stop at the 4 programs mentioned above. We open ourselves to the advancement of the human resources of the Giripurwo community,” he hoped.

In line with the Village Head, Panewu Purwosari, Purwono, S.IP., M.Sc., also expressed his gratitude for the trust of FIP UNY in providing assistance to Giripurwo Village. “As many as 43% of Purwosari residents are in Giripurwo, working on Giripurwo is to give Purwosari color,” he said. Purwono hopes that this collaboration can produce gold ink for Giripurwo in particular, and Gunungkidul in general.

While the Dean of FIP UNY, Dr. Sujarwo, M.Pd., officially opened the activities for the Development Program for FIP UNY.
