CARING FOR STUDENTS' FATE DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, UNY MAKES ADJUSTMENTS TO EDUCATION COSTS/SINGLE TUITION FEES

During this COVID-19 pandemic, all aspects of life are changing. The complexity of handling this outbreak has made state leaders implement super-tight policies to break the chain of the spread of COVID-19.

To provide technical instructions for submitting a review of Single Tuition Fees (UKT), the Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) Rector has issued Decree No. 2.20/UN34/V/2020 dated 20 May 2020. According to the Rector of UNY, Sutrisna Wibawa, there are five schemes for reviewing the UKT:

1. Cost reduction due to the death of a parent/guardian.

2. A decrease in the cost due to a drastic decline in the parent/guardian's business or bankruptcy results.

3. A temporary exemption from the cost due to the impact of Covid-19.

4. Tuition fee waiver because students cannot take final project research data in the even semester of 2019/2020.

5. The UKT payment installments.

Sutrisna Wibawa further stated that the application procedure is straightforward. With this policy, UNY hopes that the spirit of cooperation between universities and students or parents/guardians can run smoothly. Furthermore, the university helps students and their parents/guardians in terms of financing education, so there is no longer any reason to stop studying due to the covid-19 outbreak.
