UNY Affirms Its Inclusive Campus Commitment, Deaf and Physically Disabled Participants Take UTBK-SNBT Without Barriers
Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) has once again emphasized its commitment as an inclusive campus in the implementation of the 2026 Computer-Based Written Test for the National Selection Based on Test (UTBK-SNBT). On the exam day, prospective students from the deaf and physically disabled communities were able to take the test with accessible, disability-friendly facilities, ensuring equality and minimal barriers.
From the outset, UNY ensured that the entire UTBK implementation scheme not only focused on technical smoothness but also guaranteed accessibility for all participants. Various adjustments were made, including providing easily accessible examination rooms, wheelchair access, and special assistance for participants who require support.
Head of the UNY Admission Unit, Dr. Bambang Saptono, emphasized that inclusivity is not merely an additional feature but a fundamental principle in UNY’s educational services.
“We ensure that every participant has an equal opportunity to demonstrate their best abilities. Our facilities and services are designed so that there are no barriers, whether physical or communication-related,” he stated.
Support was also provided in the form of communication assistance for deaf participants, as well as technical arrangements in examination rooms tailored to the needs of physically disabled participants. All these services were designed to maintain participant comfort without compromising the standards and integrity of the UTBK implementation.
Through these efforts, UNY demonstrates that inclusive education is not just a concept, but a concrete practice—ensuring that every individual, regardless of physical condition, has equal access to higher education opportunities.
This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), by promoting equal access and inclusive learning environments for all.
