Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) and Gunungkidul Regency strengthened the existing cooperation by signing a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) on the UNY Gunungkidul's Education Outside the Domicile Implementation. The signing of the PKS between the UNY Rector, Prof. Dr. Sutrisna Wibawa, M.Pd., and the Regent of Gunungkidul, Hj. Badingah, S.Sos, was held on 21 May 2019 at the 55th UNY Anniversary Ceremony at Sports Hall (GOR) UNY. Yogyakarta Deputy Governor, Director General of SDID Kemeristekdikti, Rector of UGM, partner universities' Rectors, all UNY Lecturers, education staff, guests, UNY partners, and student representatives. 

Through the signing of the cooperation, UNY hopes to help the people in Gunungkidul get easier access to higher education. By the Education Program Outside Domicile, the people of Gunungkidul are getting closer to continuing their higher education. This activity is one of the collaborative programs carried out between UNY and Gunungkidul that has been established so far. Some of the collaborations carried out between UNY and Gunungkidul Regency is UNY's participation in the development of Dewi Sri's Golden Village in Putat Patuk Village, Social Services in Bejiharjo Village, assistance in developing a literacy village in Bejiharjo, and various other research and community service activities.

The signing of the PKS is the first step in organizing PDD UNY in Gunungkidul. Furthermore, UNY hopes that various related agencies and the community can support this good collaborative activity. (Aji, ts-Alina)
