Access schemes for people with disabilities such as mentoring or other targeted support

UNY has a robust support system for students with disabilities, primarily managed through the Pusat Layanan Disabilitas (PLD), or Disability Services Center. Service includes:
(1) Mentoring and Peer Support, such as:
•        Volunteer Companions: They provide physical assistance, note-taking, and general campus navigation support.
•        Specialized Mentors: For students with disabiities, PLD provides dedicated companions during exams and other academic activities.
•        Juru Bahasa Isyarat (JBI): Sign language interpreters are provided in the hesis defenses and official university events, to ensure deaf or hard-of-hearing students have full access to the proceedings.
(2) Academic & Career Support, such as:
•        Career Guidance: The Subdirektorat Karier dan Alumni (SKA UNY) partners with the PLD to host career counseling sessions specifically for students with disabilities, focusing on workplace independence and competitive skills.
•        Self-Advocacy Workshops: The PLD organizes workshops on self-advocacy and conflict resolution to empower students to manage their own educational journey and navigate social challenges effectively.
•        Digital Skills Training: UNY collaborates with external partners (like Telkom Indonesia) to provide digital literacy and skills training to help students transition into the modern workforce.
