UNY Student Invented Automatic Hand-washing Device
The number of cases infected with Covid-19 in Indonesia is increasing. Efforts to avoid this are wearing a mask when traveling, keeping a distance, not touching objects or objects in public places. We cannot even shake hands with other people and should diligently wash hands. According to WHO, good hand washing is done for 20 seconds so that germs and viruses die. The Electrical Engineering Education Department's student of UNY designed an automatic hand washing device using an ultrasonic sensor and an Arduino Uno controller. It aimed to make it easier for people to wash their hands. She is Oktania Hasna Sulistiyaningrum. This tool can run on a battery source and last about 8 hours if used continuously. However, when the device can no longer pump water, it indicates the battery has run out and must be charged immediately. The tool is equipped with an on/off button. When not in use, the system can turn off and save the battery.
The tools used in this automatic hand washing tool are screwdrivers, glue gun, attractor, scissors, solder, stationery, and cutter. The materials needed are Arduino Uno, gallon, ultrasonic sensor, glue gun, servo, tenor, electric gallon pump, and G glue. The design of the tool starts from the electronic scheme. Then the electronic system of the device is assembled according to the electronic schematic design. Arduino Uno is the controller or the brain of processing data. The ultrasonic sensor is a tool to detect the presence of hands that will wash their hands. Servo pulls the pumping of hand soap automatically. The resident of Widuri Hamlet, Pemalang Regency, explained that they adjusted the tool's programming to the initial plan. "When you want to wash your hands where your hands are 15 cm from the sensor, the water will flow automatically for 15 seconds to wash," said Hasna. Then automatically, the water turns off, and the hand soap comes out in two pumps. The system will stop for 20 seconds to wash hands. This automatic hand washing device was submitted to the Surajaya Village, Pemalang Regency, as UNY KKN. (Dedy, ts-Shafia, Alina)
