TWO UNY STUDENTS WIN THE WOMEN OPEN SRIWIJAYA CHAMPIONSHIP 2021
Football is the most popular sport globally, and currently, it is not only dominated by men. The proof is that two students from the Faculty of Sports Science could penetrate and become Arema FC women players. The two players are Sabrina Mutiara Firdaus Wibowo (Sports Education and Coaching Department) and Aulia Nur Hikmatin (Physical Education Health and Recreation Department).
Sabrina and Aulia, along with their friends, strengthened the Women Arema FC, known as Ongis Kodew. They participated in the Open Sriwijaya Championship held at the Sriwijaya Gelora Stadium, Jakabaring, Palembang, South Sumatra, which started Sunday (13/6).
Arema FC Women's Team or Arema FC Women's Team had to face Putri Musi Rawas FC in the Semifinals and won 5-0. While in the Final, they had to face a formidable opponent from the DKI Women's Team and won the match by a narrow score of 1-0. This championship is one of the 17 goals of the SDGs, namely health and well-being.
After winning this Sriwijaya Championship match, five players will strengthen the Indonesian Women's National Team, preparing for the SEA GAMES XXXI in Hanoi, Vietnam, in November 2021. One of them is Sabrina Mutiara Firdaus Wibowo. (PD, ts-Shafia, Alina)
