Garuda Urban Gasoline 17 made by Garuda UNY (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta) team had made their success on racing contest for Energy Saving Car ( Mobil Hemat Energi / KMHE) in Kanjeran Park, Surabaya, Jawa Timur. The energy-saving car managed to do eight (8) laps on the 11,6 km track in no longer than 30 minutes.

The Garuda UNY support team, Mifta Saputra, explains that the KMHE racing track has a straight and circling Kenjeran Park. “ The curved track became another obstacle, and there at that moment, a strategy, a skillful driver, and teamwork are needed,” Mifta explains in his official statement.

After the car finishes eight laps, the fuel tank must be measured again to know how much fuel the vehicle has consumed. 

From five opportunities, the one with the best result will become the winner. Likewise, the car with a minor fuel consumption will become the winner. 

For the information, Garuda UNY will enter the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) team, which consists of cars with gasoline and ethanol as its fuel. To become the winner, Garuda UNY must compete with another 36 units from ICE from universities all over Indonesia. 

The Garuda UNY advisor team, Sutiman, M.T said, in Kenjeran, Garuda UNY team success on breaking his own record. With this result, Garuda UNY team became highlight. 

“ At first, there were only a few universities, but now we can compete against professionals. We have improved in many things in general,” Sutiman explains.
