Results of KASTRAT's Visit to the Public Works Office

A total of 18 students from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), consisting of the Department of Geography education, Social Studies education, and State Administration, made a study visit at the Office of Spatial Planning of the PUP and ESDM Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The holiday, initiated by the Division of Strategic Studies of the Geography Education Student Association, was to find out more about the state and governance of the Green Open Space of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, seeing the condition of the city of Yogyakarta, which is increasingly crowded today.

This student was received directly by the Department of Spatial Planning of the Department of Public Works and Energy and Mineral Resources of the DIY Province, Ir. Hananto Hadi Purnomo, M.Sc. Furthermore, he explained the Green Open Space of Yogyakarta City, followed by a light discussion.

According to Law no. 26 of 2007 concerning Spatial Planning, the spatial planning of the city area must include a plan for the provision and utilization of green open space with a minimum size of 30% of the city area. The determination of the 30% figure includes 10% for private sites and 20% for public places.

The current condition of the city of Yogyakarta is towards the fulfillment of a better green open space. However, it still has to be improved in terms of infrastructure and facilities for implementing Green Open Space, considering the increasingly dense condition of the Yogyakarta area.

In addition to this, commitment and good cooperation are needed between the government as the initiator of spatial planning and the community in maintaining the state of spatial planning based on Green Open Space for a better and more comfortable life.

After the explanation and discussion, the Head of Spatial Planning Department of Public Works and ESDM DIY Province, Ir. Hananto Hadi Purnomo, M.Sc. invites students to work together in creating areas with good and qualified Green Open Spaces, especially in a campus environment that is very closely interacted with students, even Hanato offers assistance and support in creating Green Open Spaces in the campus environment.
